week 6, almost there!

So these are a few renders from the wings ive been buuilding for lance. next will come his hands and clothes and face and then colouring the damn thing in in substance. figured out that school has vray so im tempted to trial it out for rendering my finals, but at this rate ill be sticking with keyshot still.

but first, lets get on with Cassius, before he gets left in the dark, drowned among the machinery.

Actually never mind, ima gone use keyshot.

yeah making gloves!

i changed my mind! too much good detail on the hand, be a shame to cover it completely.

This is the difference between rendering a high poly mesh with all the detail or a low poly with bump mapped detail. guess which is which!

and some clothing fresh from Marvellous

And some texture on the clothing. Keyshot has this lovely remade fabric normal map that you can slam on huge sections of mesh, which is nice.
in conclusion... 3d smoke just doesn't work this way. gotta find another way. might just paint it in, save the 3d for lance. On the other hand there must be a way to snapshot some particle effects and put them in or something...

week 5

it doesn't seem like a lot this week but it is a lot. learned a new programme to speed up my character design so now I'm making clothes. i also made two robot faces for Lance to choose form.

four is too many

here are some rough colour concepts of the Jurisdictionoers. the gold and scarlet are really touching me in the right places. these are the only two i did though and ill do some more before it comes to colouring in Cassius.

The harsh Sharnian canyons, now slums with the scum of society dwelling in th old residents.

And the final photoshop beginning of Cassius. With all the thumbnails and splash splashes put together I've been pulling my fav bits off and creating an armour?slum hybrid costume.

Lances hand, rendered in Keyshot, which is beautiful

lances hand again, uvd in zbrush and textured in Substance painter. next thing to learn is how to properly decimate and repot the things. and clothing. can't forget clothing

thumbnails of Lance, with some roughed in ideas of where i want to go with him.

Picked my favourite so far, a nice traditional looking angel look to him with a touch of hatred cassius-ness, so i started playing around with the wing mechanics with a bird skeleton as a basis

some further massing around with Lances Mechanical structuring. A lot of it is based on technology earth. its better for the consciousness to use familiar tech when editing a tidy.

And here we have some more 3d models. these were made in maya, textured in substance and rendered in Keyshot. the only problem with them is th eUV mapping is a bit off so when i go to do them again ill take some time to do that. find some piece of nice software to make it easier or something. otherwise the system is working nicely.

Also, thats not the colour scheme, thats just a trial.

Next on the list is a bit of photoshop goodness. gotta do some paintings of lances clothes and face and what not. enough getting lost in my favourite software
